WHY I HAVE CREATE THE ULTIMATE FERTILITY GUIDE:

Hey, I’m Natalie Silverman, host of The Fertility Podcast, which I launched in 2014, after receiving successful ICSI (Intracytoplasmic sperm injection)treatment. Being a radio geek, and always referring to audio when searching for relevant information, I only found Amercian voices – so I launched this podcast.

Being a Brit, I wanted something closer to home so started contacting authors of books I had read asking them for interviews. Since then I’ve spoken to experts around the world, amazing charities offering you support and many men and women sharing their own infertility struggles.

I feel extremely privileged to speak to so many people and to hear back from those who have listened to and benefited from a podcast that it has helped, so I wanted to take things a step further.

As well as sharing useful content with you, I wanted to provide you with access to the people I was speaking to.  As a former patient, I know what it’s like scouring the Internet for hours.

 40th anniversary of IVF

2018 marks this amazing anniversary and there have been an astounding six million babies being been born as a result of either IVF or other reproductive techniques. It’s clear to see how amazing this scientific breakthrough has been, BUT with the average failure rate of 75%  do you know where you can go for emotional support?

If your treatment has failed and you don’t want to carry on, I want to make sure you can find the support and community you need, right here.   If you have had a failed cycle and your clinic hasn’t given you the support you hoped for, I want to make sure you know where else you can go to find it.  There are amazing communities online as well as brilliant organisations that are here for you. There are numerous awesome bloggers, You Tubers, podcasters who I’m working on getting listed so you can access their wisdom. I will be showcasing global fertility events, books, plays, films – you name it, I’ll have it.

There are so many ways infertility can knock you sideways, with the postcode lottery affecting access to treatment in the UK,  the rising costs of fertility treatment around the world and we are seeing an increase in male factor issues worldwide.

Now we know Guys – no disrespect, but you’re not that forward in talking about this kind of stuff are you? So I want to make sure you also know you have access to as much information as possible which could help you take the next steps towards advice or treatment. From my podcast episodes about male fertility issues to link to organisations within this guide, you can find your way.

I am passionate about fertility education; therefore, you will also find access to holistic practitioners, from hypnotherapists to acupuncturists alongside pharmaceutical and healthcare companies. I want to offer a clear pathway for you to help you get your body into the best place it can be to reproduce and ultimately carry a baby. The ideal would be to avoid fertility treatment all together but if it has to happen, hopefully with the advanced knowledge you can help make it more effective first time around for you, rather than you having to endure multiple cycles.

If you are looking to understand more about using a donor or a surrogate or if you want someone to talk to whilst you try to understand that a childless life is now your path, I want you tobe able to find them here.

MY MISSION?

We all consume information on the move, we listen and watch using our phones, we share the good stuff and skip the nonsense.  There is a lot of it out there. The Fertility Podcast has more than 150 episodes for you to listen to and as we get bigger we’re connecting the guide to the shownotes to join the dots for you.

My mission is to cut through the noise by giving you what you need. To offer insights from experts in the video interviews that I’m making and sharing on the listings and my Youtube channel there will also be live streamed interviews where you can ask experts questions as well as insta live chats as I want to create a constant conversation.

Hopefully, for those of us going through treatment, this will put an end to making us feel as if we are on a conveyor belt and we will be seen as more than just a number.

I want to empower you with the knowledge you need to be secure in what your future holds especially if it doesn’t look how you’d imagined it would be.

Here’s to breaking the silence and getting us all talking,

With love, Natalie
